The Ecodesign Meeting-BEM2020 Congress, organized by IHOBE between February 26 and 28 to celebrate 20 years since the start of the first eco-design projects in the Basque Country, has been a great opportunity for both institutions and companies and attendees, almost a thousand, will discover the potential of the R&D center that SDA Factory has.
In one of the round tables that were held, and together with representatives of companies such as Ternua, Luma Suite, Ekorec and SKFK, “we had the opportunity to share the company’s dimension, product portfolio, history, present and future. It served so that many companies and most attendees put the focus on what we do and become aware that in Vitoria there is a leading firm in the design and production of small household appliances in Europe, ”says Iñaki Castresana, head of SDA organization Factory
In addition, “we have been present with two of the 130 eco-designed products and manufactured entirely in Euskadi that have been exhibited in the Euskalduna Palace. They have been able to see the new products of SDA Factory: an iron and an ironing center, to be exact. The first, an iron produced under the Ufesa brand (model PV3500); and the second, a new vertical ironing center, made for Di4 (Jet Pressing Xtream Compact 8b model). Both products reduce electricity consumption above 25% and water consumption by 35%. The vertical model captured much of the attention and curiosity of the attendees, ”says Iñaki Castresana, responsible for organizing SDA Factory.
Through the products themselves, the exhibition addressed ten sectors linked to eco-design and the circular economy. To date, it is the largest sample of eco-designed and environmentally sustainable products made in Europe. 98 companies from very different sectors have participated in it: chemical, metal, food, electric-electronic, automotive, mobility, furniture, machinery, building materials and consumer products.
The two products of SDA, concluded the Congress become part, together with the rest, of a complete catalog that will be available in both physical and digital format, and that will be edited by IHOBE in Spanish / Basque and English with the objective that It is the letter of introduction of the Basque Country and its companies before the rest of entities and agents at international level to show the work developed in the Basque Country in Ecodesign in these years.
